Should Webrings About Webrings Be Closed for the New Policy? - 02/26/2006

"Absolutely NO "here's all the Rings I manage" site. It has no value in ANY Ring."

In general, I agree. In my own terms of service (http://www.jamesshuggins.com/h/rng1/wdc-tos.htm#webrings) I note that I will not admit other webrings.

As I write there:
It is ok to promote your own webrings on the page that joins mine, but it must be your site that joins my webring, not your webring that joins my webring.

However, I have an exception.

I have a webring titled "I'm Addicted to Webrings"
http://a.webring.com/hub?ring=imaddicted

It is in the category of webrings
Home Computers & Internet Internet Webrings
http://dir.webring.com/rw?d=Computers___Internet/Internet/Webrings

This webring currently exists precisely to permit ringmasters to submit their webring or their list of webrings for membership.

"Further, we reserve the right to remove "here's all my webrings" pages from existing Rings as well. They are simply polluting the system and wasting resources."

I'm writing to see whether that statement ... the idea that they should NEVER be allowed and that WebRing.com will remove them in ALL cases, applies to this type/classification of webring as well.

If it does, I will remove them and close this webring in accordance with the new policy.

I'm checking because I do not want to close the webring it unless it is the correct thing to do.
